Why is Christmas in April « Wake County needed?

Many of our older neighbors have worked hard all their lives, but now are unable to maintain their homes in safe and secure conditions. Physical disabilities and financial hardships prevent seniors from completing critical repairs needed for their homes, resulting in dangerous and unhealthy living conditions. As continued funding reductions limit the ability of government programs to meet the needs of seniors who qualify for assistance, the consequences for our local community are declining neighborhoods and a burgeoning population of elders who are at risk of losing their independence. In order to address these problems, the Christmas in April
H program mobilizes local businesses, community groups, and more than 1,000 volunteers to transform the homes and lives or our elderly neighbors.
